Staff Paper

Can't Hear the Music?

These songs are MIDI files ("MIDI" stands for "Musical Instrument Digital Interface). Most computers should be able to play MIDI files, using programs such as Windows Media Player, Real Player, WinAmp or Quick Time. If you double click with your mouse on the name of a song, it should bring up one of those programs and play the song - make sure your computer's speakers are turned on! If the song does not play, follow the steps below:

     1. right click with your mouse on the name of the song

     2. select either "Copy", "Copy Location" or "Copy Shortcut"

     3. open whatever program your computer usually uses to play music when on the internet (Windows Media Player, Real Player, WinAmp or Quick Time)

     4. go to the "File" drop-down menu in your computer's media program and select "Open" or "Open Location" - you should get a window with a space to put in the location of the song

     5. click in the space in the "Open" window, hold down the "Control" button on your keyboard and then type the letter "V"  - the location of the song should appear in the "Open" window. For Mac computers, hold down the "Open Apple" button on your keyboard while you type the letter "V".

     6. Click "OK" on the "Open" window and the sound file should play. You may need to hit the "Play" button on your computer's media program (again, make sure your computer's speakers are turned on!).

Come Play Along!

On this page there are several links to recorder music that you can play along to.  If you click on the song title the music will come up on your screen.  At the bottom of the song, there is an option to hear the song at a slow, medium or fast tempo (speed).  Generally, our belt testing in the classroom is at the medium tempo.  Some of these are out belt songs and some of these are some bonus songs to learn on your own!

Let me know how you did in my guestbook!  Do you like to tunes?  Would you like more of our recorder melodies online?
